Diesel Engine Bedplates
Damaged diesel engine bedplates and entablatures are routinely repaired by our experienced technicians after a catastrophic failure, saving the need for costly replacement. On-site diesel engine repairs can be carried out at sea, alongside or in a dry dock or a power generation plant around the world, by way of Nicol & Andrews precision Line Boring systems.
- We offer on-site line boring (or machining of individual bores) of large items of plant that cannot be easily sent to a workshop for repair.
- Items such as large diesel engine bedplates, cylinder blocks, liner landings (including inserts) and other large items of plant that have suffered wear damage or erosion.
- On-site line boring can be performed on a large number of in-line bores, such as main journal pockets, accurately machined and aligned even when several meters apart.
- We cater to diameters ranging from 25mm to 1000mm as standard, with individual bore lengths up to 12 meters. Laser alignment is used to ensure total accuracy.
- With our latest laser-guided boring equipment, we can now correct even the slightest misalignment on diesel engines or marine/industrial plants of all sizes and ranges.
- Most repairs are carried out in combination with our laser alignment services allowing us to bring your equipment back to OEM tolerances, giving the best chance of an extended running time.
- If you need special tooling designed to suit a difficult application, we have designers and 3D (SolidWorks) CAD systems in house to allow us to tackle almost anything.
